Winter is Coming

As we move into the winter season, home care takes on an even more important role. It's cold, dark, icy New York conditions that prevent the elderly and disabled from venturing out to important medical visits. It also becomes more challenging for caregivers to get from home to home. But rest assured, Home Life Primary Care and Home Life Wound Care will be there rain, snow, or shine.

One thing you can do to prepare is to get some Vitamin D. With less sunshine comes less natural Vitamin D production in the human skin. We need to substitute this valuable vitamin to maintain a positive state of mind. Not only is low Vitamin D linked to depression (Seasonal Affective Disorder) but also problems with bone health, regulation of blood pressure, and many other bodily functions.

Another measure that will be important is to use our social workers to facilitate durable medical equipment such as sturdy walking aides. Falls are one of the major dangers and send people to the ER with fractured hips, ribs, and more which can lead to grave consequences.
